Stan Laurel 8'' x 10'' matte photo, signed before he changed his name from Stan Jefferson to Stan Laurel. The comedian signs, ''To Curtis with all good wishes / mirthfully yours / Stan Jefferson''. The Celebrity Photo Shop credit in the lower left corner places Jefferson at the McVickers Theatre Building in Chicago. A Majestic Theatre Building, Chicago, backstamp appears on the verso. Pencil notations in another hand on the verso include ''The Nutty Burglars,'' an act that Jefferson, as part of the Keystone Trio, performed in 1915. Another note reads, ''Stan & May Laurel,'' the name Jefferson eventually adopted and used with another act before he met Oliver Hardy. Minor creasing and tears with tape residue to verso. Very good. With JSA COA.
