Richard Nixon typed letter signed as President to California Governor Pat Brown (then a lawyer in private practice), dated 17 March 1969 on White House stationery. In the letter, Nixon thanks Brown for sending him a quote he enjoyed, stating, ''...It was very thoughtful of you to let me have the De Costa quotation as modified by Lord Byron. The author must have been a politician for his insights are striking...With warm personal regards...[signed] Dick''. 6.75'' x 8.75'' letter has staple mark and light creasing, else near fine.
