Dorothy Tennant autograph letter signed as Dorothy Stanley, wife of African explorer Henry M. Stanley. Dated 1 August 1891, her letter to C.F. Lehmann at the Hotel Jungfrau reads: ''Dear Sir, My husband desires me to thank you...Mr. Stanley made [painter] M. Rudolf Lehmann's acquaintance last year, when he made that admirable sketch of Mr. Stanley which you saw - as soon as my husband is a little better he will be very pleased to see you if you are kind enough to call...Dorothy Stanley''. Includes original envelope. 2pp. on card-style stationery measures 4.5'' x 7''. Two spots of staining to first page and creasing across center, else near fine.
