Thomas Edison jots some notes at the bottom of a letter written by his employee, Borden, dated 5 April 1921. The letter reports that a Mr. Devine ''...thought that a higher vacuum would shorten on time for us and improve the drying. A new pump would be needed for this...'' One of Edison's notes reads, ''Buchanan what is meant by new pump / E''. The letter ends, ''...A rough analysis of this liquid shows 65% to 70% alcohol. I am not sure whether this is worth re-working or not. Edison circles the percentages and writes, ''It certainly is worth it''. Moderate chipping and toning to 8.25'' x 10.5'' letter, else very good.
