Edward Steichen renders a sketch and signs the front free endpaper of his book ''Steichen the Photographer.'' Museum of Modern Art: New York: 1961. The top two thirds of the page bear a geometric design hand-drawn by Steichen. Beneath, he inscribes, ''rough draft of a new 'oochen' to be added to the pg 20 series at the exhibit, see page 73. A companion to 'Thinkratees' this one will be named 'Toppenheimer'. / For Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Lyons, / and all good wishes / E. Steichen''. His sketch and inscription are in pencil, and the dedication in blue ink. The ''oochens'' are forms composed of triangles in his tempera paintings. 80pp. book measures 8.5'' x 9.5''. Near fine.
