First edition, first printing softcover of J.K. Rowling's first novel, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", one of 5,000 in the first printing run, published at the same time as the much rarer hardcover. Shortly after its debut in June 1997, this novel soared to the top of book lists voted on by children, causing adults in the publishing world to take notice. The phenomenon of Harry Potter only grew stronger over the next several years as more Millennial children aged into reading the book and its sequels, famously devouring each new book the same day of its release. "Philosopher's Stone" is now firmly ensconced as a classic of children's literature and the second most successful children's book of all time. London: Bloomsbury, 1997.
