Erwin Rommel postcard signed, dated 16 November 1939 from Berlin. The German field marshal adds a handwritten note in German reading in part, ''...it looks like old Mountaineers are moving into the uncertain fray...'' Rommel was promoted to general in August 1939 and became Hitler's confidante, though he was known to have participated in the plot to overthrow the Fuhrer. As he often did, he signs this postcard, ''Heil Hitler...E. Rommel''. Minor soiling and creasing to 5.75'' x 4'' postcard, else very good plus condition. Accompanied by full translation.
