Renowned 20th century photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt signed photo of two of the titans of 20th century physics: Albert Einstein and Robert Oppenheimer. Eisenstaedt captured this image for ''LIFE'' magazine in 1947 shortly after Oppenheimer was named as director of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, where Einstein served on the faculty. This, of course, was shortly after Oppenheimer oversaw the creation of the atomic bomb in 1945. Photograph was published in the 29 December 1947 issue of ''LIFE'', captioned ''Einstein tells Oppenheimer about his newest attempts to explain matter in terms of space''. Large semi-glossy photograph measures 16'' x 20'', signed by Eisenstaedt on the photographic border. With Time Inc. stamp on verso, though faded. Minor creasing and faint margin toning, overall near fine condition.
