Carl Jung typed letter signed, written from his home in Zurich on 1 April 1950. Jung writes to his protegee, the psychoanalyst Dr. Riwkah Scharf in Israel, seeming to comfort her and encourage her to give lectures to boost her sense of self and morale. German letter translates in full,
''Dear Doctor, / Thank you very much for your kind letter, which I found very interesting. I can well imagine that the situation is not an easy one, but I believe that it will be good for you to be able to give a lecture - or several of them. It is my understanding that the people there are extremely eager to learn about anything new coming out of Europe. I hope that this endeavor will strengthen your sense of self. Nothing is better for boosting morale than being able to do something useful. / I hope that this letter will still reach you in time. At any rate, I wish you a return journey that is happier than the journey there had been. / Even though I am fairly tired now at the end of this segment of the year, I feel relatively good. Still, I can use a vacation. / Please give my regards to all who know me. / With my very best wishes, your faithful / [signed] C.G. Jung''. Single page on onionskin measures 8.25'' x 5.875''. Vertical fold, overall near fine condition with a bold signature.
Letter is accompanied by a separate letter to Scharf from Jung's secretary, Marie-Jeanne Schmid, and also the original mailing envelope, postmarked 3 April 1950.
