With the essential first printing point of Scribner's seal and ''A'' on the copyright page. Hemingway's story of an old Cuban fisherman who engages in a violent battle to conquer a giant Marlin in the Gulf Stream earned the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1953. Runs 140 pages and measures 5.625'' x 8.25''. Bound in publisher's blue cloth boards with silver lettering to spine. Housed in original price-clipped dust jacket, which has some chipping and tape repair to verso, in good condition. Book is nicely preserved; previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper and minor sunning to boards, in very good to near fine condition.
