Robert E. Lee CDV photo signed of himself in his Confederate General's uniform, scarce as such. Clearly signed ''R. E. Lee'' at bottom, photo was taken by the Richmond studio of Vannerson & Jones, which sold and changed its name to The Lee Gallery in 1868. By this time, Lee was primarily signing CDVs of himself in civilian clothes, making this CDV, which also has an exceptional signature, unique. With blind-embossed imprint of The Lee Gallery at bottom. Measures 2.5'' x 4.25''. Minor soiling and foxing, overall in very good plus condition.
