Aaron Burr letter signed, written by the Vice President sometime after 1801, as it reference his son-in-law, Joseph Alston. Dated only Tuesday Morning, Burr writes to The Honorable Dr. Mitchell, likely Samuel L. Mitchill, who served as Senator from New York beginning in 1804. Burr writes, ''Dear Sir / Have the goodness to inform me by the bearer of this where Mr. Dickens may be found. Less it may not be in my power to see him in town, if you should happen to meet him, let him know that it will give me great pleasure to see him at dinner. My son in law Mr. Alston too, who leaves town tomorrow morning for Albany would be much gratified by an interview with him. / I am also on the eve of departure for Rhode Island - Respectfully...A. Burr''. Single page bifolium letter with integral address leaf measures 7.875'' x 9.75'' as folded. Infill to small paper loss on second sheet from wax seal, and mounting remnants to verso. Folds and small split along seam. Very good condition.
