Large and personal archive from Charles Bukowski, including several signed first editions, Christmas cards, a large signed photo, check signed, and original art and doodles, including a doodle of his dog and several ''signature'' doodles of a man on a toilet. Items were given by Bukowski to his close friend, Jeff ''Woody'' Copland, who, like Bukowski, was a race horse enthusiast, with the two originally meeting at the tracks. Copland was even a pallbearer at Bukowski's funeral in 1994, and Bukowski dedicated his book of poetry, ''You Get So Alone At Times That it Just Makes Sense'', to Copland. A fantastic lot of items from the important 20th century poet and novelist.

Lot includes:
1) Limited edition of ''Crucifix in a Deathhand: New Poems, 1963-1965'', signed by Bukowski with a personal inscription on the half-title page: ''For Jeff Copland - I hope these early poems are readable for you. I was in my 'lyrical stage' then. Anyhow, the paper is supposed to last 2,000 years. / Hank Charles Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle] / p.s. - youse iz a good guy...'' New Orleans: Loujon Press, 1965, one of 3,100 copies, with etchings by Noel Rockmore, deckled edges and illustrated paper covers. Measures 8.5'' x 12.5'' Some staining to covers and front endpaper, and split to seam of cover, else near fine condition.

2) Signed copy of ''Poems Written Before Jumping Out of an 8-Story Window'', penned on title page: ''For Jeff Copland / I didn't jump but I often feel like it. / Hank Charles Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle]''. Salt Lake City: Litmus, Inc., 1975 noted as the ''first edition with correspondence / second printing''. Measures 5.375'' x 8.25''. Tearing to front paper cover, else very good plus.

3) Signed first edition of ''The Day It Snowed in L.A.'', inscribed by Bukowski on the title page: ''For Jeff Copland -- May the snow of luck fall upon you. / Hank Charles Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle]''. Measures 5.5'' x 8.5''. Short tear to front paper cover and some staining, overall in very good condition.

4) Signed copy of ''Relentless as the Tarantula'', signed on the front free endpaper, ''For Jeff Copland - Who does it the hard way with good style. / Hank Charles Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle]''. Detroit: Planet Detroit Chapbooks, 1986. Measures 5.5'' x 8.5'' with paper covers. Light wear, overall in very good condition.

5) Signed limited edition of ''A Visitor Complains of My Disenfranchise'', inscribed by Bukowski on the title page: ''For Jeff Copland / Hank Charles Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle]''. Los Angeles: Illuminati, 1987, limited edition of 225. Measures 3.75'' x 9.125'' wrapped in black paper covers, with deckled edges. Interior pages separated from staple, small hole on front cover and light wear, overall in very good condition.

6) Signed first edition of ''A New Year's Greeting: Luck'', inscribed on the title page, ''For Jeff Copland / Hank Charles Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle]''. Measures 4'' square, bound in paper covers. Santa Rosa: Black Sparrow Press, 1987. Light wear, and abrasion to covers, overall in very good condition.

7) Signed first edition, first printing of ''The Maverick Poets: An Anthology'', inscribed by Bukowski on the title page: ''Well, Woody, some of these poems aren't too bad. / Hank Bukowski / [two hand-drawn doodles]''. Santee, CA: Gorilla Press, 1988. Paperback measures 6'' x 9''. Light wear and creasing, overall very good.

8) Signed first edition of ''Bukowski Photographs 1977-1987'', inscribed by Bukowski on the title page: ''For Jeff Copland - Know you need more photos of me. Right? Right. / Hank Charles Bukowski [hand-drawn doodle]''. Santa Barbara: Graham Mackintosh, 1987. Paperback measures 8.125'' x 10.75''. Light wear, overall in very good to near fine condition.

9) Signed first edition of ''A New Year's Greeting: If You Let Them Kill You, They Will'', inscribed on the title page, ''For Jeff Copland / Don't drop the whip. / Hank Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle]''. Measures 4.5'' x 7'', bound in paper covers. Santa Rosa: Black Sparrow Press, 1989. Light staining and wear, overall in very good condition.

10) Signed first edition of ''A New Year's Greeting: We Ain't Got No Money, Honey, But We Got Rain'', inscribed on the title page, ''For Jeff Copland / Let's have a lucky Holly Park meet. / Hank Bukowski''. Measures 4.5'' x 7'', bound in paper covers. Santa Rosa: Black Sparrow Press, 1990. Light wear, overall in very good plus condition.

11) Check signed by Charles Bukowski, signed ''H. Bukowski'' and handwritten by him to Jeffrey Copland, dated 12 July 1986 for $60.00. The word ''Photo'' is in the memo field, with check drawn on the account of ''Henry C. Bukowski Jr. / AKA Charles Bukowski''. Measures 6'' x 2.75''. Not cancelled or endorsed. Minor wear, in very good condition.

12) Large photo of Bukowski, measuring 11'' x 14'', signed by him: ''For Jeff -- Copland -- / You're a good fucker, baby. / Hank Charles Bukowski / [hand-drawn doodle]''. Framed to a size of 16.25'' x 19.5''. Not examined out of frame, but appears near fine.

13) Original artwork by Bukowski, showing a jockey on a horse, with yellow paint filling out the sun. Drawn and signed in black felt-tip, ''For Woody - From Hank and Linda''. Measures 8.5'' x 5.5''. Some staining and tape remnants to corners. Good plus condition.

14) Signed Christmas card with a hand-drawn doodle of a man and woman (whose head is a heart), holding hands. Bukowski writes, ''And a great Santa Anita / Hank and Linda / come by for Christmas dinner!''. Measures 4.625'' x 6.75''. Near fine condition.

15) Signed Christmas card of Santa Claus on the toilet, signed by Bukowski inside, ''Hank and Linda Lee''. With original envelope handwritten by Bukowski, with his return name ''Bukowski'' handwritten. Postmarked 21 December 1984. Card measures 5'' x 7''. Tear to envelope, affecting B in name, and light wear to card. Very good condition.

16) Funeral card for Charles Bukowski, with one of his poems printed inside. Measures 3.25'' x 5.25''. Light wear, very good condition.
