Large archive of signed and flown items from the U.S. space program, including Apollo 14 beta cloth swatch flown to the surface of the moon, and 24 items signed by Apollo astronauts, most by Buzz Aldrin. Lot includes:
1) Swatch of beta cloth flown to the surface of the moon during the Apollo 14 mission. Accompanied by LOA from Larry E. Thompson, Chief of the Flight Crew Operations Branch at NASA, which states that the swatch was cut from the Lunar Module Transfer Bag that was used to transfer samples collected from the moon back to Earth. Triangular swatch measures 1'' along the base, affixed to presentation board measuring 10'' x 8''. Near fine condition.
2) James Lovell signed white spacesuit photo, inscribed in blue felt-tip, ''Houston we have a problem / James Lovell / Apollo 13''. Half-matte photo measures 8'' x 10''. Near fine condition.
3) Large 18.5'' x 13.25'' magazine photo of Buzz Aldrin on the moon, signed on both the front and verso photos. On one side he writes in silver felt-tip, ''OUR NEXT STEPS SHOULD BE ON MARS! / Buzz Aldrin / APOLLO XI''. On the verso he writes, ''YES, 'MAGNIFICENT DESOLATION' IT IS! / Buzz Aldrin / APOLLO XI''. Light surface scratch and creasing, overall in very good condition.
4) Large 16'' x 20'' poster signed by Buzz Aldrin in blue felt-tip, ''FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS.... / Buzz Aldrin / APOLLO XI''. Near fine condition.
