First edition, first printing of Arthur Conan Doyle's, ''The Hound of the Baskervilles'', the far and away favorite novel among Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts. London: George Newnes, 1902. Bound in publisher's scarlet red cloth boards illustrated in gilt and black, with ''you'' for ''your'' on page 13, line 3, as called for in the first printing. With sixteen plates by Sidney Paget including the frontispiece. Measures 5'' x 7.5'' and runs 359pp. Minor fading to spine and previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown, overall in very good plus condition, finer than usually found.
