Inscribed from Lewis to author Claire Wallace Flynn on the front free endpaper, ''To Claire Flynn / with the affection of Grace + / Sinclair Lewis''. Undated by shortly after Babbitt was published, with reference to Lewis's wife Grace. All first printings points present, including ''Supposing Purdy'' on page 49, line four; and ''my fellow human'' on line five of same page. Bound in publisher's blue cloth boards with orange blocking and lettering, lacking jacket. Measures 5'' x 7.5''. Signature page detached, separation to hinges and partial separation of backstrip from spine, otherwise very good condition with clean interior.
