First edition, first printing trade issue of Ernest Hemingway's post-WWI classic, ''A Farewell to Arms''. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1929. First printing without disclaimer to preliminary page, bound in black boards with gilt block-lettering, and housed in the first printing dust jacket showing the original $2.50 price and misspelled heroine's name on the front flap as ''Katharine Barclay''. Measures 5.75'' x 7.75''. In remarkable, unrestored condition, rare as such, with only mild chipping to edges of jacket and small paper loss to back. Book itself is only slightly cocked, with gilt still bright on boards and clean interior. Overall in very good to near fine condition.
