First edition, first printing of "How to Trade in Stocks" by Jesse L. Livermore, in the scarce first printing dust jacket. New York: Duell, Sloan & Pearce, Inc., 1940. Considered a pioneer of day trading, Livermore began speculative trading at age 15, becoming so successful that the Boston bucket shops banned him from trading before age 20. Intuitively understanding the fluctuations of the market, he took a massive short position before the crash of 1929, leading to a $100 million windfall afterwards. Livermore here outlines his process of speculation, with all 16 charts present showing how to capitalize on market euphoria, follow market leaders and other perennial advice.

Housed in original scarce dust jacket, in very good condition with no substantial paper loss; chipping mostly confined to ends, small abrasion to spine, uniform toning and price-clipped. Book itself, bound in blue cloth boards with silver lettering, is near fine, with only toning and pencil notation to front endpaper, and light pencil lines drawn on some pages. Measures 5.25" x 7.5" and runs 133pp. One of the essential books in the history of stock trading, in the very scarce dust jacket.
