Edmund P. Hillary and Michael Ward signed copy of ''Everest 1953, First Ascent: A Clinical Record'', a medical record of the first successful summit of Everest, originally printed in 1953, and then subsequently published in ''High Altitude Medicine & Biology'' in 2003 on the 50th anniversary. Signed ''E.P. Hillary'' and ''Michael Ward'' in black and blue ink respectively. In addition to taking part in the 1951 reconnaissance expedition to Everest, Ward was the doctor on the 1953 team and recorded the climbers' physiological states during the ascent, documented here. Document runs 11pp. on six glossy sheets stapled at left. Slight smudging to Ward's signature, else near fine.
