Theodore ''Dutch'' Van Kirk lengthy notation about the Hiroshima mission handwritten and signed upon a photograph of the Enola Gay. Composed in fine blue felt-tip, Van Kirk writes, ''The first atomic bomb was dropped from 30,600 ft. It exploded 43 seconds later, about 1800 feet above the ground. The city of Hiroshima was devastated, but millions of lives were saved, both Allied and Japanese.
