Elsa Einstein typed letter signed, dated 15 December 1933 shortly after she and Albert Einstein emigrated to the United States during World War II. Translated from German, Einstein writes to her cousin Erich, arranging a time to meet over the holidays. Letter reads in part, ''On Sunday, we will be in New York for lunch at the home of Stephen Wise, the well-known rabbi...Unfortunately, I cannot invite you to lunch there, since we are guests ourselves and are bringing our Miss Dukas along...Saturday...we will be having a large family from New York...[signed] Elsa...'' Single page letter measures 8.375'' x 11''. Folds and light wear, overall very good condition. With full translation.
