Sam Houston signed land grant as Governor of Texas, dated 9 November 1860 in large script, with Houston's signature measuring 4.5'' long. Houston here grants 320 acres of land in Hays County, complete with blind-stamped seal for the state of Texas at lower right. Document measures 14.75'' x 12.5''. Light foxing and toning, and small holes at intersecting folds. Hinged with archival tape on verso to gold mat measuring 18'' x 14''. Overall in very good condition, with a bold, prominent signature by Houston. Accompanied by a second document from the state for a later reassignment of the land.
