Datelined New York, 15 September, 1880, the letter, written to magazine editor Edward Bok reads: ''My dear Sir: In answer to your letter of today I have the pleasure of sending you my autograph. Yours Respectfully, [signed] Chester A. Arthur''. Less than a year later Arthur would succeed to the Presidency following Garfield's assassination. Single page letter on card-style stationery measures 5'' x 8'' closed. Toning, else near fine.
