Harry Truman twice-signed large photo, showing the newly elected President holding up the famous ''Chicago Daily Tribune'' newspaper that erroneously proclaimed his defeat. Silver gelatin photograph measures 13.25'' x 10.5'', upon which Truman writes ''They missed the boat? / HST'' and also ''To Arch Salyer / kind regards from / Harry S. Truman / 5-11-65''. Matte finish photo is taped on verso to mat board measuring 16'' x 14''. Photo is lightly creased, overall very good plus condition with bold signatures. A rare photo as signed by Truman, showcasing the worse newspaper blunder of the 20th century.
