Riveting original Associated Press teletype from 22 November 1963, with the very first reporting of the shooting of President John F. Kennedy, just minutes after the ''ambush'' and not knowing yet who survived it. Teletype begins, ''First Lead Kennedy Shot / Dallas, Nov. 22 (AP)-President Kennedy and Gov. John Connally of Texas were shot from ambush today. It was not known whether either was killed.'' The teletype continues just 15 minutes after the President was shot, ''In Washington, the White House Press Office said at 1:45 P.M. EST that it had nothing beyond press information on the shooting.'' The bulletin then continues with news of the President's death: ''Dallas...First Lead Kennedy shot XXX was killed. Kennedy apparently was shot in the head. He fell face down in the back seat of his car. Blood was on his head. Mrs. Kennedy cried, 'Oh, No!' and tried to hold up his head...The President and the Governor were rushed to Parkland Hospital near the Dallas Trade Mart...'' Teletype measures 8.5'' x 16''. Foxing to left side, and cross-outs to sections, likely done during reporting of the event. Overall very good condition.
