Walt Disney signed animation cels of Donald Duck and José Carioca, used in Disney's 1942 classic ''Saludos Amigos'', the sixth Disney animated feature film and the first produced by Walt Disney Productions. Large cels of Donald Duck and José Carioca are from the ''Aquarela do Brasil'' segment of the film, where Carioca shows his friend Donald around South America and introduces him to the samba, which he plays here on his makeshift umbrella. The film also marks the first appearance of José Carioca. Two cels each measure approximately 2.75'' x 4.5'' on background measuring 7.5'' by 7'', and mat measuring 14'' x 15'' upon which Disney signs, ''To Joe / With Best / Wishes / Walt Disney''. With Courvoisier Galleries sticker affixed to backing certifying that the cels were used in the filming of ''Saludos Amigos''. Walt Disney Productions stamp appears on mat, above Disney's signature, reading ''original / WDP''. Light uniform toning to mat. Cels have some cracking and lifting, but remain attractive. Disney's signature, in large green crayon, is bold and near fine. Overall in very good condition. With a COA from Phil Sears. A rare, special Disney signed production cel from of the earliest Disney animated films.
