Official press release announcing the paintings selected for display in the Kennedy White House as part of the White House Restoration project. Typed press release is dated 13 February 1962, ''...Mrs. John F. Kennedy, Honorary Chairman of the Fine Arts Committee, and Mr. James W. Fosburgh, Chairman of the Special Committee for White House Paintings announced today those paintings which have been acquired for the White House...include American landscapes, still lifes, marine battles and portraits of historic figures...'' Document goes on to itemize the selected works and provide background information on the artists. Runs 3pp. on 3 sheets measuring 8.5'' x 14''. Stapled to upper left. Bears a pencil notation of ''SP'' (Sally Powers) to upper right corner of first page. Toning and light staining to edges, else near fine. Originally from the papers of Sally Powers, who served as secretary to White House curator Lorraine Pearce.
