Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed as Governor of New York, regarding FDR's first campaign for President in 1932. Written upon gilt-embossed gubernatorial letterhead, Roosevelt writes to a Philip Talento, who composed a sweet poem in praise of FDR's candidacy. Dated 28 April 1932, letter reads in part, ''...It was very good of you to send me the copy of the verses you wrote in my honor. I appreciate deeply your desire to help my cause in this way. I have passed on a copy to some friends here and am returning the original, at your request...With thanks for your confidence in me...[signed] Franklin D. Roosevelt''. Lot includes the typed poem signed by Talento, entitled ''Vote for Roosevelt''. Roosevelt's letter measures 8'' x 10.5''. Separation starting along folds, and light wear, overall very good condition.
