She is the daughter of the late Langdon Cheves, one of the most distinguished statesmen of this Country, & her social position at home is as high as that of any other lady in the land. I desire to commend her earnestly to the kindness & attention of all whom she may meet in Europe as eminently worthy of their regard. / James Buchanan''.
