Original Cornelius Hicks poster for a 1917 Red Cross World War I propaganda poster. The stunning poster features a nurse comforting a child against a backdrop of a landscape ravaged by the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. The slogan reads ''Our Greatest Mother / Join!'', in an effort to beckon women to join the war cause as nurses. Hicks painted two American Red Cross Posters and illustrated for several magazines, including ''Collier's Weekly.'' The 20'' x 30'' poster has some tearing and heavy chipping in the top right of the poster. Good plus condition.
