Partially printed on War Department, Bureau of Inspection of the Infantry stationery, document translates: ''The Minster of War, To the Citizen Lardy, Judge of the Peace...I inform you, Citizen, I received your letter from the 17th...in which you announce the death of Antoine Mermet of Paris. Department of la Seine, Defender of the Fatherland. I write on behalf of the Administrative council of his Corps...The General of the Brigade, Chief of the 4th Division...'' Saint-Cyr distinguished himself serving in the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the Napoleonic Wars. Single page document with embossed seal measures 8.25'' x 13''. Paper loss to lower right corner and light foxing. Very good condition.
