Scarce first English translation of ''Dante's Inferno'' by Dante Alighieri. London: T. Payne & Son et al, 1782. Translated by Charles Rogers with John Flaxman illustrations. Beautifully rebound in one-quarter leather and marbled paper boards. Interior is very good with toning, foxing and also dampstaining in spots along bottom. Likely missing front endpaper, but including errata page and rear endpaper. All edges marbled. Overall very good condition.
