Charles Schulz hand-drawn ''Peanuts'' comic strip from 4 October 1963, shortly after the introduction of zip codes in the summer of 1963. Schulz introduces character 555 95472, or ''5'' for short, whose father named all his children as numbers. Also at this time, the U.S. was seguing from partial letter and numerical based phone numbers to completely numerical ones, causing the average American to have to remember a slew of new numbers. The character 5 would appear throughout the 1960s and be featured prominently in ''Peanuts'' television specials, where he would represent the 1960s by the way he danced. United Feature Syndicate label appears on third panel. Strip measures 28.5'' x 7.5''. Near fine condition.
