Ludwig Bemelmans hand drawn illustration of his iconic character Madeline, drawn to title page of his classic book. Bemelmans draws depiction of Madeline holding a handful of flowers as she stands with her dog Genevieve signing ''from [Madeline] / To Denise / with best wishes for a happy birthday / Ludwig Bemelmans 1954''. Later, 1950s edition published in New York by Simon & Schuster. This copy ''Madeline'' contains colorful green cover and runs 34pp. Measures 9'' x 12.5''. Heavy wear to cover of book, but not affecting illustration, which is in near fine condition.
