Unique double-sided letter containing two separate autograph letters signed by Rose Kennedy while she was in Tokyo. Written on American Airlines stationery, Rose writes to her daughter-in-law Ethel Kennedy (Robert's wife), and also her maid. Note to Ethel reads in full, ''Dear Ethel / There were two screens sent from Tokyo addressed to you in Washington - Pat may want one so please put in storage till I come home - Love Grandma / They may arrive any day & if they do not come before you go away leave word with Ted Reardon or someone. Please give other side to Louisa as there is no more paper here''. Kennedy signs the bottom ''G. Ma''. Verso contains the letter to Kennedy's maid, and reads in full, ''Dear Louisa - I opened bags here in Tokyo everything seemed fine - Thank you very much - Please put away a few letters which are on top of my desk. Just put in drawers. The employment agency in Boston said accommodators did not have time off - which was what Mrs. Kennedy told me in the South. However - I did let the maid go in the evening myself. I am telling you this as long as the matter came up. I was glad to have you help me this summer & could not have found anyone else who would have been half as satisfactory. Thank you again, dear Louisa.'' Kennedy signs ''Sincerely, Rose Kennedy'' to the bottom. Measures 7.25'' x 10.25''. Very good.
