During his first term as President, Grover Cleveland signs his full name to a military document, appointing Albert Ordway to the position of ''Brigadier General of the Militia of the District of Columbia'' on 19 April 1887. Document is co-signed by then Secretary of War, William Endicott. Large royal blue War Office seal is affixed at lower left. Vellum document measures 18'' x 14''. Vertical fold and expected wear to vellum, overall very good condition.
