Railroad document signed by Chester Arthur as President on 2 April 1883. Arthur appoints an ''Albert Ordway of Washington, D.C.'' as a ''Commissioner to examine and report upon fifty miles of railroad constructed by the Northern Pacific Railroad Company and the Yellowstone and Rocky Mountain Division of said Company's line in Montana Territory''. Document is countersigned by Secretary of the Interior, H.M. Teller. Signed ''Chester A. Arthur'' at right, document also includes Department of Interior raised seal at left. Measures 19'' x 15''. Folds, toning and small spot on verso, overall very good plus condition, with a bold signature by Arthur.
