WWII Japanese evacuation poster dated 24 April 1942 from the San Francisco Presidio, the city's military base. Bold black font reads: ''INSTRUCTIONS TO ALL PERSONS OF JAPANESE ANCESTRY / Living in the Following Area'' and proceeds to list relocation information, including the prohibition to change residence after 24 April 1942 and instructions for the evacuation: evacuees are only to carry essential bedding and personal effects, and no pets are allowed. Top of poster is labeled: ''WESTERN DEFENSE COMMAND AND FOURTH ARMY WARTIME CIVIL CONTROL ADMINISTRATION'' and bottom is signed in type: ''J.L. DeWitt / Lieutenant General, U.S. Army / Commanding''. Measures 13.5'' x 21.5''. Minimal creasing and ''Japanese / WWII'' written on verso. Very good plus condition.
