1949 ''Look Award'' presented to cinematographer Leon Shamroy for the film ''Twelve O'Clock High''. Dramatic black-laquered wooden plaque with a mounted brass medallion relief of a woman in profile is designed by William Zorach. Mounted brass plaque reads: ''LEON SHAMROY / LOOK / 1949 / FILM ACHIEVEMENT AWARD''. Verso has attached wooden piece for upright presentation and small metal plate on top that reads: ''MEDALLIC ART CO / NEW YORK''. Shamroy had won 3 Academy Awards at this point and would win his 4th and final Oscar in 1964 for ''Cleopatra''. ''Look'' was an American magazine that ran from 1937 to 1971 and is known for helping launch the career of Stanley Kubrick who worked as a staff photographer. Plaque measures 6.5'' x 10'', medallion measures 3.5'' in diameter. Some spotting and minor discoloration to wood, otherwise in near fine condition.
