Princess Mary brass gift box, given to troops during WWI in 1914. Top of box is embossed with relief of Mary framed by ''M'' on each side and reads, ''CHRISTMAS 1914''. Six small circles around border list Britain's allied countries: Belgium, Japan, Russia, Montenegro, Servia and France. Contents include pack of cigarettes and tobacco package, both labeled, ''HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCESS MARY'S CHRISTMAS FUND 1914''. A small enveloped Christmas card reads: ''With Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Victorious New Year / From The Princess Mary and Friends at Home''. Also included is a small portrait photo of Mary. An unrelated railway ticket dated 12 December 1916 is also included, along with small calling card labeled, ''Percy Coleman''. Box measures 5'' x 3.25'' x 1''. Eighteen cigarettes remain in very good condition and all of tobacco remains. Box has minor wear and oxidation from use and age, but in overall very good condition.
