Margaret Mitchell signed first edition of her Pulitzer prize-winning novel ''Gone With the Wind'', which inspired the Academy award-winning film of the same name. Published by Macmillan: New York: 1936, novel is beautifully re-bound with marbled boards and leather spine, with title in gilt. Elegantly signed ''For Max Siegel / Margaret Mitchell'' to front free endpaper; Max Siegel was a longtime Chicago bookseller who knew many authors of the 20th century. With first edition point of May 1936 printed on copyright page. Housed in cloth slipcover, book measures 6'' x 9''. Interior toning, else near fine.
