Brooklyn Bridge opening ceremony invitation. Partially-printed invitation to the 24 May 1883 celebration features a picture of the spectacular engineering achievement and reads in part, ''...The trustees of the New York and Brooklyn Bridge request the honor of the presence of [inscribed] Mr. Glen R. Butler at the opening ceremonies...'' The focal point of the card is an etching of the suspension bridge stretching across the East River to connect Manhattan and Brooklyn. Invitation was produced by Tiffany & Co., who revised the Great Seal of the United States two years later. Measures 9'' x 6.5''. Toning and evidence of mounting to verso, else near fine.
