Mary Astor autograph letter signed, dated 1 January 1965. Upon her personal stationery bearing her Malibu address, Astor writes to her agent Gloria Safier in New York. Reads in full: ''Thank you thank you thank you, for the lovely fat pad -- it hangs in the kitchen in place of the classified section of the newspaper, which, you may remember was thumb-tacked and used for reminders: call the plumber, get cigarettes, dog food, etc. I had a lovely Christmas -- just being home. Being on a ship in the Mediterranean sounds lovely -- but it is better in recall! I confined presents to the eight members of my family this year. Next year I'll be very rich from all those commercials I'm going to get and everybody'll get a present! Happy, happy New Year & Love, Mary''. With two postscripts, ''The New Yorker poem -- I got a kick, too.'' And ''Try & see 'Charlotte' -- my reviews here were rather good.'' One page letter measures 8.5'' x 11''. Creasing, otherwise near fine.
