President Gerald Ford typed letter signed on 22 November 1976, three weeks after being defeated for re-election. Typed on White House stationery and addressed to a supporter, letter reads in part, ''Dear Mrs. Nessen / Your kind message is deeply appreciated. We feel very close to Ron and hearing from you in such a thoughtful way has special meaning for us. Long after the hard work and hurried pace of these past weeks are forgotten. I will remember the generous encouragement and goodwill which were extended to me and my entire family by so many good friends. It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of our great country, and I will never forget this wonderful privilege...[signed] Jerry Ford''. Letter measures 6.25'' x 9'', framed to 15'' x 29'' and weighing 2.5 lbs. Accompanied by metal plaque with Ford's biography, measuring 7'' x 5''. Foxing and light toning to letter, otherwise near fine.
