Invitation card for a reception at the Kennedy White House on 20 November 1963, the last such event before JFK's death. Reception was held in the East Room honoring the federal judiciary, and included the presence of Supreme Court Justices. It was tragically the last night the President would spend in the White House, as he traveled to Dallas on 21 November 1963, and was assassinated the following day. Invitation card was sent to Justice Charles Evans Whitaker, appointed to the Supreme Court by Dwight Eisenhower in 1957. Card reads in full: ''The President and Mrs. Kennedy request the pleasure of the company of Judge and Mrs. Whitaker at a reception to be held at the White House Wednesday evening, November 20, 1963 at six-thirty o'clock''. Very slight toning. Near fine.
