P.T. Barnum signed author's edition of his autobiography, ''Struggles and Triumphs; Or Forty Years' Recollections'', published by Warren, Johnson & Co.: Buffalo: 1874. Volume bears Barnum's autograph inscription to the fly-leaf, ''To Mrs. JJ Gorham / with compliments of The Author / P. T. Barnum / Bridgeport July 20th 1874''. The circus entrepreneur's memoir runs 847pp. Bound in marbled paper boards with all edges marbled and a leather spine with black print and gilt lettering. Measures 6.5'' x 9''. Exterior shows rubbing and wear to edges. Interior shows absent frontispiece tissue, foxing to endpapers and prior owner's pencil notations to the fly-leaf. Very good overall.
