Karl Donitz typed letter signed on his personal ''Grossadmiral'' stationery, dated 21 May 1977. Donitz writes in German to a Rolf Metzger in Hawthorne, Callifornia. Donitz tells him he is excited about receiving a model ship that Metzger is sending. The 8.25'' x 5.75'' single page letter is signed boldly in blue ink: ''Donitz''. The accompanying 6.25'' x 4.5'' envelope is postmarked from Hamburg, Germany. Vertical fold through signature, else near fine condition.
