Harry Truman signed first edition of ''Mr. President'', published by Farrar, Straus and Young: New York: 1952. Truman's autograph inscription beneath the color photo frontispiece reads, in black ink, ''Kindest regards to Ruth Henry. / Harry Truman''. Ruth Henry served as Chief Telephone Operator at the White House from the Truman administration to the first Bush presidency. In this book, author William Hillman reveals Truman's personal papers with quotes and photos throughout. Volume runs 253pp., bound in green textured paper boards with gilt printing to the front board reading, ''I want the people to know the Presidency as I have experienced it and I want them to know me as I am.'' Measures 8.25'' x 11.25''. Cracking to interior front hinge, toning to leaves and wear to board edges, else near fine.
