Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed as President, dated 19 September 1944 and typed on White House stationery. Letter, which congratulates the First Magyar Church of Bridgeport, Connecticut on the fiftieth anniversary of its founding, reads in full: ''My dear Mr. Nagy / Hearty congratulations to the pastor and congregation of the First Magyar Reformed Church on the happy occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of its founding. How proud you and the congregation must be when you realize that one fourth of your membership is serving valiantly in the armed forces while the remainder is engaged in the support of the war effort -- on the production lines, in bond sales and in a multitude of activities which strengthen morals both at home and on our far-flung battle fronts. I trust that the forthcoming commemoration will inspire all who participate with a renewed determination to uphold Christian ideals through a full measure of service to God and country.'' Signed ''Franklin D. Roosevelt''. Letter measures 7'' x 8.75'', mounted to board measuring 7.75'' x 10.25''. Foxing and toning, not affecting the quality of the signature. Good condition.
