Earl de la Valette autograph note signed. The Earl, also known as General Louis Jean-Baptiste Thomas, served in both the French and American Revolutionary Wars. Here he handwrites the lowermost section of a note requesting that Capt. Antoine Charles Du Sollet be dismissed on leave to attend to family affairs following the death of his brother: ''...kindly grant him leave as requested. [signed] de La Valette''. Two other officers sign the document on the soldier's behalf. 1pp. measures 8'' x 7.5''. Light foxing, creasing and two small tears to top edge. Very good condition.
